Veipa Cray Website
An old name that’s hard to pronounce (Veep–ah Kr–ay)? A muse, a siren, a calling out. An inspiration. An incarnation. An original alternative-pop group with an infectious groove & smart lyrics. “Tricky” captures a disco beat & updates it to something new — when the horns come out of the guitar solo it becomes more than catchy. “Something to Remember” is a tight introspective pop number about one's own legacy. “4 Real” an organic, rhythmic tune about everyone's chance to be something more. Veipa Cray incorporates layers of piano & synth sounds mixed with janglely guitars, saxophone and a super-crispy rhythm section. Live, just when you have the group all figured out, expectations drop aside as the band’s set explores different moods & elements. Veipa Cray is not afraid to get loud and large with then ..reduce things down to a quiet intensity.
Flabby Hoffman Website
With their hard rock, riff oriented, axe blistering antics and soul stirring lyrics, there is no doubt that this band is not in the mood to compromise. Will this trio get crushed by the weight of the imposing forces in control of our culture, or will they learn how to thrive in a world run by sociopaths that seek to crush every last vestige of individuality...
Kevin Branigan Website
Kevin Branigan is a guitarist / singer / songwriter from Tinley Park. He has self-produced fifteen albums, which include songs from his catalog of more than three-hundred original compositions. Kevin is heavily influenced by British music, but also draws energy from heavy rock from both sides of the Atlantic. He takes an aggressive approach in the acoustic / vocal genre, creating emotional intensity through driving rhythms and ethereal melodies. He is currently working on songs for his sixteenth album.

The Modern SocietyWebsite
Formed three years ago by Brown and Bence over shared musical passions, The Modern Society came together like a big bang of the right place and the right time. The two had first met while playing in different area bands and when they joined up, they immediately began finishing each other’s songs. Bence knew Martin and Carter since high school, where they’d all met through their various bands, and he brought them to play one night. Ask Brown how it all came together and he can’t really explain…they simply met and practiced together only once to discover it felt like they’d known each other their entire lives. After recording five demos and sharing them online to a good response, the band booked their first show with no expectations only to have close to 400 kids show up to hear them. By their third show The Modern Society was nominated for several Atlanta Music Guide awards and shortly thereafter entered the studio to record their debut.
enjoy.

Naked & Shameless Website
Legend has it that Buck (Naked) and Dave (Shameless) met in a karaoke bar in Indonesia where they were nightly regulars, making up dirty lyrics to popular songs and trying to crack each other up while the other mostly non-english speaking patrons scratched their confused non-english speaking heads. Enter Hong Kong music impresario and general schemer, Skidd Wong, who immediately tried to take advantage of them. Whatever the case, the pair ended up in Chicago a few years ago and have been making mischief ever since. Buck grew up in a trailer park in southwest Ohio, exhibiting signs of his huge talent from a very early age. Dave originally hails from Vancouver, Canada, but there is Kentucky in his genetic memory. It is through this filter (and a good deal of drinkin') that Buck and Dave have absorbed the music of their surroundings, from honky-tonks, to skid row bars, to little punk clubs. They personify the search for good times and strange salvation. Naked & Shameless are a fairly unique entertainment experience -- when grasping for a comparison, writers have suggested a lounge-punk version of Tenacious D, as both acts are two guys who lace their music with social parody and bawdy humor, but that's a pretty incomplete comparison. Think of Mojo Nixon, or Lux Interior doing show tunes, or duets by Elvis and Shane MacGowan, or countrified Ween. As the Godfathers of NoFi, Naked & Shameless are also known for interactivity in their live show -- they encourage high-spirited participation. Fans are rabid. Detractors seethe.

Triggers Website
Triggers began in the Spring of 2005 when Brett Zoric and Joe Salmond, formally of the band Monarch (Northern Records) hooked up with Adam Rousseau and Rich "Woody" Kawood, formally of locals The You (Pure Tone Music) in the hopes of starting a new musical project. The four quickly began writing, making demos, playing shows, and doing other normal band things. Soon after the formation of the band however, Salmond left to join the US military and was replaced by local guitarist turned bassist Joe Kasler.
After solidifying their lineup, Triggers set about recording tracks that would become their debut EP. "Elude the Suits" was self released in December of 2006 and was hailed as "different and exciting" and "an ambitious hint at future accomplishment" by local media.
In the summer of 2007, Triggers began the recording of their first full length LP with producer/engineer John Hiler (Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair, Steven Stills, The Frogs, Danzig). The tracks were recorded at Mr. Smalls Studio and The Machine Age in Pittsburgh, and mixed later that Fall in Los Angeles. The album is called "Smoke Show" and was released in March, 2008.

The Eli StoryWebsite
As if directly from the minds of musically-inclined TI-83 calculator programmers, The Eli Story creates their own equation of quirky nerd pop rock fun. This Chicago trio always entertains and delivers with tight harmonies and an energetic live stage show, proving that even your nerds can rock. With each member pulling from very diverse backgrounds, The Eli Story crafts a sound all of their own, yet familiar enough to entice the average listener.
Drummer and lead vocalist Eddie Paul and guitarist/keyboardist Michael Gouwens began collaborating during their college days and eventually formed Get Everet, which gained a local following. After a brief hiatus precipitated by the disbandment of Get Everet, Paul and Gouwens added bassist/guitarist Dylan Lower to their line-up to form The Eli Story. The result is a sound that takes the energy and catchy hooks of their earlier work to a new level with a more mature sense of melody and finesse. The Eli Story is currently finishing up the final touches on their first E.P. to be released in the early 2009.
The Eli Story. Rock like a nerd.

Bill SmithWebsite
Taking new steps on the grand musical journey, Bill Smith has found the ability to ferment futuristic songs with classic rock instrumentation and has been leaving music fans in Chicago breathless with their heavy hitting sound. Featuring a repertoire of solid original songs seething with hooks and tastefully chosen covers, this is a band that holds a consistently high level of energy through out their sets.
Twin Cats Website
Joseph Murphy has found himself a new home in the city of Chicago, Illinois, where he is now allowed the opportunity to focus on his band full time. With humble beginnings under the name Aid, he has decided that, since this band feels brand new, a new name was necessary: Twin Cats. He began writing music as an outlet for creativity, and has expanded the breadth of his sound over the course of several self-released records. In his new album, Up North the sound of the city folds its arms around his music, as new instruments, time signatures and other explorations appear as strokes of light across the record. Joseph’s honesty and invitation for self-exploration, perhaps the most distinguishing features in his songwriting, are as pervasive as ever on the new release, as are his newfound love for the city and the love of making music itself. The release of Up North will be followed by two months of touring, spanning almost the entire country.
Prosaic Jazz Website
Prosaic plays jazz of every era, from the early days of be-bop, to post bop, to latin, to soul and funk, to more contemporary artists. If you like jazz at all, this band has something for you. Featuring alumni of such Chicago bands as Family Lifted, The East Village Project, Pala, Fat Time, Starcandy, P-1, Smittyvision, The F-Word, and the Powers that Be, Prosaic is a tree with many branches and deep roots.
Jaik Willis Website
Jaik is a nationally touring performer based in the Chicago area. He has shared bills with artists such as Big Brother & the Holding Company, the Drovers, Leftover Salmon, Merl Saunders, Drop Q (Kris Meyers of Umphrey’s McGee, Kalyan Pathak of Fareed Haque Group), Digital Underground, Blueground Undergrass, EOTO (members of String Cheese Incident), The Schwag, Ekoostik Hookah, Tea Leaf Green, Split Lip Rayfield, Devon Allman & Honeytribe, Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, and Victor Wooten; and performed on stage with acoustic blues dynamo, Corey Harris.
Jaiks 4-octave voice stretches out in vocal solos and scatting over his high-energy acoustic guitar work on original songs that are accessible and lyrically intriguing. The focus is on keeping the show fun for the audience.

The Last VegasWebsite
In front of a capacity crowd at the world famous Whisky A-Go-Go, complete with music industry tastemakers, Guitar Center and Mötley Crüe selected The Last Vegas from Chicago, IL, as the winner of Guitar Center On-Stage last night. Over the past eight weeks, bands across the United States submitted their music at makerockhistory.com. From close to 8000 submissions, 30 semi-finalists were selected, which were then narrowed down to the six top undiscovered bands in the country, with The Last Vegas prevailing as the one band chosen for the ultimate, career altering opportunity — the chance to open on tour for rock icons, Mötley Crüe. In true Crüe fashion, The Last Vegas also found out that their career is literally going from "0" to "60" overnight and will be opening for the notorious rockers at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles this Friday, November 14th. The band will record their first single immediately. It will be available as a stream on AOL on November 24th and as a download on iTunes by November 25th.

Mr. BLOTTOWebsite
Mr. Blotto was born in Chicago as an off-night vehicle for musicians who loved each others playing but were in different bands at the time. The only rule was that they would only play what they loved. That philosophy continues today and has led Mr. Blotto into unique musical situations.

Tim StopulosWebsite
Tim Stopulos began writing his own songs as soon as picked up the guitar and continued to write as he discovered all his heroes: John Mayer, Ben Folds, Coldplay, Billy Joel, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley to name a few. But after listening to Tim's music, one can't help but notice there's an element therein that you can't find in his list of influences. "I tend to name those guys as my greatest influences, but I would be lying if I said I haven't been inspired by hip-hop and R&B. Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, Maroon 5, even Nelly. Those guys have incredible style." Currently, Tim is in Chicago playing with the newly formed Tim Stopulos & The Trio featuring Justin Hooks on drums, Seville "Unkle" Lilly on keyboards and Berklee Music School grad Michael Tahlier on lead guitar.

| NEW YEARS AFROBEAT PARTY |
Chicago Afrobeat ProjectWebsite
Afrobeat cannot stand still. As the genre’s tempting sounds continue a resurgence across the globe, Chicago Afrobeat Project (CAbP) remains true to its original vision of breathing the intensity of Chicago’s rich music scene into the infectious sounds of afrobeat. Rather than become caricatures of the genre, CAbP slips a reverent nod to the tradition while delivering an energized originality different from any other band on the afrobeat scene today.
